I’m gonna love again
You gotta break me in
I’m holding out too long
But I’m not giving up
Paulson - Break Me In
Binging on Paulson lately. This song melodically doesn’t necessarily fit hand in hand with the majority of their repertoire, but I like it anyway (huzzah happy melodies and chord progressions!)
Warped Tour - The morning after.

First of all, I have an awesome welt on my head from a crowdsurfer.
To be honest, I don’t dig this year’s lineup on Warped Tour, but it was awesome seeing all those familiar faces, and hanging with the kickass people of the AKAs is always great :)
The morning started at 9 am, 2 hours before doors, to meet up with Justin of the AKAs. My duty? Stick people with my awesome pink AKAs stickers to remind them what time and what stage to catch us at. I had some awesome help from my friend Sara, and the awesome guys of Uh Oh! Explosion. UOE has been following the entire Warped Tour all the way from Orange County, CA, and they’ve been out there in the hot sun every morning before doors to sell their record. Give the boys a hand.

Then onto the rest of my day at Warped:

I dropped by and said hello to Billiam and crew of The Academy Is… (whose new record, Fast Times at Barrington High, is dropping next week on the 19th). The first time I saw these guys, they were on a teeny side stage in Asbury Park, doing silly shoots on the beach with local ‘zines, getting yelled at by kids to, “EAT A FUCKING HAMBURGER”

meet the AKAs.

Gym Class Heroes - I met Travis two years ago at Warped Tour, and he’s always had a hug and hi-five to spare. I love this photo for the kid bottom right. New album, The Quilt, drops Sep. 8th.

put up your peace sign,

put your index down. (“Peace Sign/Index Down” - Gym Class Heroes. YouTube that shi-)
General Warped madness:

at the end of the day, I ended up hanging out back”stage” with some guys and good drinks and the live DJ. not a bad way to go. in the maze of tour buses. (ps. Katy Perry’s bus is ridiculous.)
You can check out the rest of the photos (if you’re looking for ones of bands) from Warped here.
YO, NEW JERSEY!

Are you ready to rock Englishtown today??
I’m going to be at Warped Tour all day, starting before doors, helping out some awesome people also known as The A.K.A.s. I’ll probably be hanging ‘round by them at the Skate Ramp Stage, so come find me! I promise fun times for sure.
And it looks like the weather’s gonna clear up for us, so bring your sunscreen and some money - water’s almost always ridiculously priced, and I cannot tell you how many kids pass out from heat and exhaustion (some before doors even open). Plus, it’s always nice to buy some swag to support your favorite noise-makers. =]
Some tips before you go:
-
wear sneakers, not flipflops (broken toes and lost shoes are never fun)
-
don’t fight with security. (if you have an issue with them, just go find/ask for someone who works for Warped)
-
drink water (not caffeinated “energy” drinks! you will get dehydrated, I will break my back taking you to a medic, and break my wallet buying you water)
-
if you’re feeling faint, go chill out by the water sprays, merch booths, etc. (staying in the pit won’t make you any more hxc, and watching from the back of an ambulance is pretty crummy, too)
-
have a blast - it’s the Warped Tour!
hellboy II, sick cafés, and why i love cached pages.
[listening to: We Write Our Own Anthems | The A.K.A.s]
I had to face a buttload of e-wub traffic trying to get a ticket for the midnight showing of The Dark Knight in East Hanover. Fandango wouldn’t load at all, and the E.Hanover specific page alone wouldn’t load either. Tired of waiting (and way too anxious), I googled for the page instead, clicked around on the cached page until I got to the “Tickets” button, copied link location, pasted into a new tab, and voila. No wait, no fuss, just tickets. Brilliant.
Hellboy II. I guess it helped that I saw it with some pretty awesome kids (who don’t have tumblrs or blogs or anything linkable - c’mon, guys), but I thought it was pretty good …because I laughed the whole time. At first it was silly and painful à la Spiderman 3, but as it went along, I could just sit back and laugh and have fun with it. The little steampunk trinkets were definitely a plus, too. I’d say, if you like steampunk, Guillermo Del Toro & his strange creatures, and are willing to spend 10 bucks for a few laughs and decent graphics, (or if you’re bored,) go for it. Just make sure you’re willing to take it a little less than seriously - the headquarters to their über secret lair is in Trenton.
Finally, Rock’n Joe’s Coffeeshop. Good lord, I never thought a neat little place like this could exist outside of the city, much less in Westfield, NJ. But it has sick desserts and drinks, and a trendy, not-yet-obnoxious atmosphere filled with records and rock memorabilia. Think sort of an “indie” Applebees or Friday’s before they went overboard with strange American pop-culture swag. I had a [half of a] delicious Belgian waffle [because of Craig’s mooching (kidding, kidding. love ya, craig)] with strawberries, chocolate, and whipped cream & a vanilla chai, Kerry had a sugar-dusted waffle, Liz had…quiche(?) and some yummy looking drink, Marf had pb&c[hocolate] silk pie AND a generously frosted cupcake, and Craig had a really good frozen hot chocolate. I give it a thumbs up for sure, especially for post-movie hangs. OH. And a fucking gorgeous red Ferrari pulled up in front too, while it’s drivers had a drink, so brownie points for that.
a little dark.. sorry

martha looking more than happy with her choices.
I'm hooooome!
And now addicted to Little Jackie thanks to the lovely Liz L. Check her out in my audio post below!
While you’re at it, I’ve gone back and added a few pics to my old posts, so be sure to check that stuff out. Clicking on photos will lead you to bigger versions, yah de yah.
