While I was packing in Tokyo, Ben spent an hour over Skype trying to convince me to talk to the crew of my flight home and get a picture of myself in the cockpit. I’m stupendously shy around strangers in certain situations, and I don’t like posing for pictures - The answer was no. He then said, “Just imagine you’re talking to a big jheath and talk to them.” …Which weirded me out immensely* and deterred me even more.
Lo and behold, when I got on the plane, the FO noticed me taking a picture of the cabin and invited me into the cockpit for a photo. I got all, “Is this really happening??!” and nervous, and they showed me around and we chatted and the FO made me touch the yoke and I’m pretty sure I fainted in my seat afterwards from belated nervousness.

*Clarification: jheath himself isn’t weird (he’s a pretty cool dude) but the IRL Tumblr reference was a bit much for my frazzled brain at the time.
