Let the line be drawn: I represent the East Coast both in geography and spirit, along with all the fine people of New York and of course, Tumblr HQ. In this scenario, I suppose that means Bad Boy Records could be Tumblr, Inc. So, some Eastside heavies would be Tumblr, Connected Ventures (College Humor), IAC (Vimeo, 592 others), muxtape, iminlikewithyou, Huffington Post, NonSoceity, and others.

Six Apart (TypePad, Vox, etc.) is HQ’d in San Francisco, which sets them up as a possible Death Row Records clone. Westside gets Twitter, Google, and… everything else. But they also get Mike Arrington.

I’m sure you’ll join me in hoping that this rivalry will remain calm and without any violent retributions. Sadly, I fear the worst — multiple pranks, some light shoving and kicking, and then finally an embarrassing display of solidarity by our mothers at a SXSW down the road. Web developers, internet CEOs, and venture capitalists are all some hardcore motherfuckers, so it’s impossible to predict how this is going to turn out.
