Realtors are a hassle to deal with in any country you go to.
Found an apartment in an ideal location with a short commute to work (Trocadero), submitted all the information the realtor wanted from me [see: way more information about myself and my finances than I cared to], had my Parisian counterpart visit and call endlessly on my behalf, and every day now the realtor has emailed to tell me they need something else they forgot to mention. And every day I fax them something new to “complete my file”. If this weren’t a reputable company I’d assume it’s fraud! And did I mention I’m paying all my rent in advance? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST TAKE MY MONEY.
So of course, since it’s taken so long to “complete” my file, there are other applicants now in the running for this apartment and “maybe it’s a good idea to look at some others just in case”. Of course. And I’m sure I’ll have to repeat this weeks-long folly again when I do find another.
T-minus 7 days til I arrive in Paris. Nowhere to live yet.
